Exercising regularly keeps us fit and healthy. But, it’s not necessary that you have to go to the gym and work out. Finding a sport like badminton and making it a part of your routine can be equally effective.
I have developed a strong liking for badminton. I played it occasionally as a backyard sport when I was a kid, but now I get to play intense matches at an indoor court.
I wasn’t bad at the sport back then, and after going quite regularly for two months, I can say that I have become quite competitive. This has come with practice and showing up on days when there was resistance. Watching and playing against people better than me has helped too.
I am glad that I found this sport, as making it a habit to play regularly was quite easy for me — I love sports!
What Makes Badminton Special
I consider badminton to be as good as a full-body workout.
This sport is a lot about technique as well. I have played against opponents who don’t move about too much on the court, yet are able to win matches.
People across all age groups enjoy badminton. Although it is an underrated sport compared to say cricket, it is among the most played sports in the world.
Sport gets people together and it fosters friendships. There are some really cool people I have connected with over the course of these last two months, folks quite senior to me as well.
Playing sports has been an integral part of my life since childhood, and I wish to keep that up for as long as possible. After all, we need to do more of what we enjoy!
Choosing a sport that one loves, is indeed a very good way to keep oneself healthy and fit.
