We normally associate the word leader with position, power, and authority. This is more of a societal framework, one that has a negative connotation than a positive one.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.
— Simon Sinek
This is the most simple and most practical definition of who a leader ought to be. It not only gives out positive vibes, but radiates energy too!
I love taking up leadership roles. It is a space where I feel at home and can express myself better. Now that I have an understanding of what it means to be a leader, I know I am on the right path.
I am taken by surprise with what’s opening up in my life. The results are serving as a great positive reinforcement for me to keep going. It just makes me want to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more. I will lead, not follow.
As leaders, it’s important to walk the talk. There’s nothing more inspiring for people than learning by observing. When people see the results of the actions we take, they naturally begin to take steps towards their goals.
Practical over theoretical…
One can choose to be in the stands as a spectator, telling the players what they should be doing, or on the field making it all happen. True leaders take the role of the latter. They are the ones who shape the course of the game.
Leaders are team players too. They don’t just focus on levelling up their game, but get everyone in the team to do so. It’s the collective effort and spirit that yields massive results.
Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.
Our mission in life must be to become leaders who inspire others through our deeds. The more such leaders we have, the healthier our community is. We will then have accountability partners to hold us to a higher standard and ensure we don’t slip up.
Today, there is a greater need for leaders who lead by example. Let us step up!
