The Quality Of Our Relationships
If there is one area of life that’s important to all of us, it's our relationships. Be it with a family member, relative, colleague, friend, or a significant other. In the words of Tony Robbins, the quality of our lives depends on the quality of our relationships.
Why settle for good or great when you can create something extraordinary?
Since we all start off with our primary group - our immediate family, transforming our relationship with them will yield extraordinary results.
How I Took Responsibility To Make The Change
Growing up, I did not have an open and free relationship with mom and dad. My thought was that they have a certain mindset and function in a certain way, so I can’t be open in my communication with them. This was a limiting belief that I carried for a while.
This friction between my parents and myself affected the other areas of my life. It was not long ago that I made the decision that this has to change.
So I changed my perception and declared from my heart that I love my parents. And having made this declaration, I have been able to interact with them through this new lens. I now communicate and connect to them more freely.
It all started with intent.
This change is starting to bring about an improvement in the overall quality of my life and my relationship with others.
We Are Solely Responsible For All Our Relationships
When we look at the heart of another person, we realize that everyone is fundamentally good. It is either due to certain needs or a particular state of being that they are in that they act in a certain way.
Our attitude and response to the actions of another person are fully in our control. If we understand this, we will work towards having high-quality connections.
We are all learning. Kindness, respect and forgiveness are virtues we need to cultivate and strengthen with each interaction. The best gift we can give to the other person is our time, for nothing beats adding value to the lives of others. After all, what goes around, comes around.
