The Quality Of Humility
Being humble is the portrayal of authentic power.
I have always kept this quality close to my heart and it has served me well. From greeting the watchman every time I see him, to listening to a student or junior of mine share something, I have built connections of utmost value.
Valuing this quality has helped me be of greater service to others. I am able to be more thoughtful of others and what’s needed of me in various situations. It has helped build respect and understanding.
Most importantly, I have been able to see a friend in everyone by valuing humility.
Why Be Humble?
Humility is all about the creation of positive energy in and around you.
Humble people make others feel accepted and acknowledged. They allow the person to be vulnerable. This creates a space of safety and calm.
There is a sense of quiet confidence in individuals who value humility. They know that they don’t have to go about bragging and boasting about themselves. Their humble nature helps them stay curious and go about with an exploratory mindset, i.e the desire to learn more.
Staying humble also helps us be on the path of relentless achievement and contribution. We don’t let fame and the success of one achievement take over our minds. We look at the bigger picture.
Life is more about building communities that thrive, not just a few individuals.
May we be filled with the grace to listen more and talk less, give more and take less, love more and hate less. Let this be our motto in our interactions with others. We will thus fulfil a larger purpose - being the change we wish to see in the world.
