The Power Of Optimization
Optimization is taking simple yet effective steps to experience life at a higher level.
Why optimize?
Today, more than ever, we have access to a wide array of information and resources. Why not use them to make experiences extraordinary?
Optimization Through Good Investments
Having to spend more time on screen, I recently invested in a good laptop. Just the fact of being on an anti-glare screen has been a life-changer. It helps me have a calmer mind while on-screen, have peaceful off-screen time, and have more energy to do other things.
Another simple investment is having a family meeting every Sunday. All four members of my family sit down and share how our week has been, what’s new, or anything that’s bothering us. This process has brought us closer as a family.
Good investments are different for each person. Networking with others, journaling or self-reflection, and learning from various sources online, help us make personalized investments that pay dividends.
Optimization Through Elimination
The ultimate form of optimization is elimination. Nothing is more effective than removing the ineffective. — James Clear
This is not as easy as it sounds. Unlearning old patterns and creating new ones in their place takes conscious effort, and it’s important to start small.
I had the unhealthy habit of checking my phone soon after getting up. Now, I wait for at least half an hour before doing so. This simple shift has compounded over time to give me a fresh and peaceful start to the day.
Elimination for me also takes the form of tracking food habits and eliminating food items that do more harm than good.
If something doesn’t align with our goals and who we are, eliminating it can be life-changing. Our attention becomes more focused on what really matters. With this focus, we achieve a higher level of fulfilment and ease.
