It has been 39 weeks since I started habit tracking with Project 52. This Sunday marks the completion of the third quarter.
Although I haven't had any major breakthroughs in the past 13 weeks, sticking to the system has paid off. I wish to share with you what I’ve gained and understood over the course of the last quarter.
The practice of writing down at least 3 things that I’m grateful for at the end of the day has been a lifesaver! While there can be many unpleasant instances in the day, there will certainly be some positives. Just focusing on the latter helps me feel lighter and go to bed with a smile on my face.
The second practice that has been gratifying is that of wrapping up the week by entering the scores for the habits for that week on Sunday night. Despite how my week went, the sense of completion and accomplishment is relieving. That week is now behind me and I can reset and begin the new week afresh.
The community experience of Project 52 has been getting stronger. This feeling of belonging to a group that shares a similar interest — being better versions of ourselves — is the best! The space is contagious with positive energy and I’ve always had something to take away from our Sunday meetups.
Some recent positive shifts…
For the past week, I’ve stayed off social media roughly from 10:30 pm at night till 9:30 am in the morning. I spend the hour before bed reading, meditating, and journaling — an important state shift before going to sleep.
The second shift is that I’ve managed to break a sweat every evening, apart from the weekend, through workouts, dance, running, or sports. It’s rejuvenating! Like the time off social media that I mentioned earlier, this is a habit that I will keep building.
Going Forward…
For the last quarter, i.e, the last 13 weeks of my Project 52, I intend to go all out with habit building and tracking. Discipline has given me freedom in the past and it shall continue to do so in the weeks to come.
I will also be sharing my weekly scores on my Whatsapp status every Sunday. This will hold me accountable to a higher standard and motivate me to get after it.
Working towards a goal can open up possibilities that were once unknown to us. One of those possibilities is that life is abundant. Life calls us to experience its vastness and live it to the fullest.
Super relatable!💯
