And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music. - Friedrich Nietzsche.
Whether it is taking an unconventional career path or a healing journey unique to us, trusting ourselves and the process must be at the heart of it. Sometimes, we might not have clarity, and others might help us out. But truly and deeply, only we can see the light at the end.
Reaching goals might happen quickly for some, slowly for others. Comparison is a natural tendency, but that shouldn’t be the metric for measuring progress. The question we need to ask ourselves is, is today even slightly better than yesterday?
I have understood and accepted that my healing journey is going to be gradual. Having understood this, I cannot become complacent. I will have to keep the pressure upwards and trust that the efforts will pay off either through small wins or major breakthroughs.
People might not quite understand why we do what we do, and that’s fine. Hearing them out and making adjustments if necessary is to be considered. But the opinions of others are subjective and matter only to the extent of options being available.
The music might change, and so might our steps to it. It’s important to have the internal certainty that as long as we can hear the music and are dancing to it, we’ll be just fine.
